Kind of slow for us trollers lately. There are still lots of fish around but they don't always want to play. Good reports from around the bathroom area in the 20-25 feet of water putting lures down about 16 feet. I have been working the 28-34 foot water with limited success putting the lures down 24-28 feet. Did have the best fish of the season on for several minutes until the lure came unbuttoned up by Sandy Point on the McGee side. Best area for the deeper trolling has been on the Sandy Point side of McGee Bay almost up to the point.
Lures with the highest success have been the Tasmanians in bleeding frog and sunset frog colors. Good technique for these lures is to rip them occasionally to entice the fish that might be considering them. The water is nice and clean and these fish will need to eat sometime. August 1 does not mean the season is over, rather just a modification of technique by pinching barbs and limiting rods to 1.
