Hello, and welcome to the Crowley Lake Fishing Report. ??This week has been another fine week here on this phenomenal still water impoundment. ??The annual Shogun Tournament went down this weekend and there were some very nice fish coming to the scales for the weigh in. The largest fish that came to the scales and took the honors for 1st place in the 25th annual Shogun Derby went to Karen Higa of Gardena, Ca with a 9.0 lb. brown trout that was caught out of Crooked Creek while trolling a silver/black Rapala. ??Congratulations Karen! ??Very Nice Fish! ??Also, we would like to thank all of our participating tournament patrons in the annual Shogun Tourney as this is one of the finest tournaments in the Eastern Sierra's. ??Thanks guys and we will see ya'll next year.

Now, for all the still fishermen out there here is the scoop. ??The still fishing this week has been very productive with most folks filling their limits within the first part of the day. ??The most consistent areas of fishing have been McGee Bay in 8-15 feet, Alligator Point in 20-25 feet, Sandy Point in 15-20 feet, The Hiltons in 14-25 feet, and Crooked Creek in 15-20 feet. ??The hot bait's for the week are as follows. ??Berkley Gulp Eggs in Fl. Red, and Chartreuse, Berkley Power Bait in Chartreuse, Spring Green, Lime Twist, and Lemon Twist. ??Also, Berkley's Yellow Power Bait, Salmon Eggs, and Inflated Night Crawlers have also been very consistent this week. ??I would suggest using 4 lb. test line with a 3 lb. Vanish fluorocarbon leader in order to fool some of those finicky trout. Good luck and happy hunting!

This week the fly fishing has been very consistent in the mornings and late evenings. ??We have been experiencing heavy winds in the afternoons and this has put a damper on most afternoon fishing sessions. ??I would suggest your start time be no later than 7:00 a.m. in order to catch the morning emergence. ??The early bird get's the worm these days! ??Don't be on the outside looking in! ??The areas that have been the most consistent this week have been in McGee Bay in 4-10 feet, Little Hilton in 8-14 feet, Crooked Creek in 8-14 feet, and Upper Owens River Channel in 8-16 feet. ??The most consistent fly patterns this week are as follows. ??Sierra Drifter's Chironimids in #16-20 gillies, copper krystal emergers, copper tiger's, copper zebra's, and black tiger's. ??Also, Stevie's Wonder's chironimids in #16-18 black/red, gray/black, olive/silver, and tan/brown have been a very consistent producer. ??Now, for the guys stripping out there be on the look out for the annual perch fry migration. ??I have witnessed a few fish slashing on the small perch fry this week and this is definitely the time to start stripping. ??I would suggest fishing punk perch imitations in #14-16 with a size #12-14 hare's ear or bird's nest trailing behind your point fly and hold on! ??3x tippet to your point fly boys or you will get broken off!
