Hello fellow anglers, and welcome to the Crowley Lake fishing report. This week has been a great week here on Crowley. The fishing has been great, with lot's of sunshine and plenty of big fish that are coming to the scales at this time. I have witnessed numerous brood stock fish coming to scales this week at an average of 4.5 lb. to 7.0 lbs. These fish were planted about a week and a half ago and have made their presence felt this week with lot's of smiles for the camera. Also, I have witnessed a few folks bringing in some very nice stringers of perch. This is one of the best times of the year for the perch fishing and it will slowly begin to taper within the next couple of weeks so if you haven't filled your freezer with those tasty perch filets then I would suggest you get up here a.s.a.p. The area's that I would concentrate on for the perch would be south shore of Sandy Point in 10-14 feet, Leighton Springs in 8-14 feet, Green Banks in 8-16 feet, and Bart's Bay in 8-14 feet. We have all of the hot plastic's from Berkley and Lip Ripperz to get you dialed in for the perch. Come on in to the shop and we will get you hooked up!

Now, for all you still fisherman out there here is the scoop. The still fishing this week has been very good for most anglers on the lake and everyone that I have talked to in the shop have filled their limits by 12:00 on most days. The bite has been very early and late as the mid-day temps are soaring high in the afternoon's! Bring plenty of water and sunscreen this time of the year. The area's that I would concentrate on this week would be Alligator Point in 20-25 feet, McGee Bay in 8-15 feet, Crooked Creek in 15-20 feet, and the Hilton's in 15-20 feet. The hot bait's for the week are as follows. Berkley's Power Bait in Chartreuse, Spring Green, Lemon Twist, and Lime Twist. Also, Yellow Power Bait, Salmon Eggs, and Berkley Gulp Eggs have been producing some nice limits. Good Luck!

The fly fishing this week has been very productive for most anglers willing to make the march to McGee Bay at 6:00 a.m. You had better grab a ticket at the tackle shop as the armada of boats in McGee Bay seems to get a little bit bigger each day. The early bird gets the worm! Also, a few other areas that are worth checking into right now would be the Hilton's in 8-14 feet, Upper Owens River Channel in 8- 14 feet, Crooked Creek in 8-16 feet, and Leighton Springs in 10-15 feet. The flies that I would suggest for this week would be Stevie's Wonder's #16-18 in Black/Red, Gray/Black, Black/Silver, and Olive/Silver. Also, I would suggest Sierra Drifter Chironimid's in #16-20 copper zebra's, black tiger's, copper tiger's, and gillies have been the go to flies this week. Also, for those of you stripping out there I have seen a few perch fry swimming around and also a few damsel fly nymphs making their annual migration along the weed lines. I would suggest fishing a Type 2 or 3 sinking line with a slow hand twist retrive in order to nail a few fish on that great streamer grab. 3x to your point fly or you will get broken off. Matuka's, Punk Perch, damsel fly nymphs, and cone head buggers in black, olive, and cinnamon have been producing some nice fish. Remember, all you fly guys don't forget to sign up for the 1st Annual Stillwater Classic that is happening on August 11, 2007. The entr??e fee is only $75.00 and all of the proceeds are going towards the purchase of brown trout fingerlings that are going to be stocked into Crowley Lake this fall. We need all of the support that we can get right now as the Department of Fish and Game have put a halt on all brown trout stocking in Crowley Lake and we would like to see Crowley remain on the top of it's game. Did I forget to mention that there is also $5,000 in cash and prizes that will be awarded to the winner's of the tournament!
