Summer was back at the Lake this week. With highs in the high 60s to low 70s quite a few anglers escaped the heat in SoCal to cool off and relax. And wouldn't you know it - fishing improved just in time for those in need of a bit of R & R. A few more groves of Aspens are lightening up - maybe due to the crisp morning and evenings.

Ok about the fishing - it's getting' better - a few more fish are coming out of the inlets using NightCrawlers, PowerBait and Jigs. Trolling deep has also been working - lead-core at 6 - 8 colors, trolling flashers and a NightCrawler or Thomas Buoyant (ya'all know what color - Red and Gold). Drifting NightCrawlers or PowerBait across the lake or near the rock piles. Shore fishermen were using PowerBait, Salmon Eggs or NightCrawlers. Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake Tuesday.

Bob Jackson of Newhall landed a nice 2-1/2 pounder using Salmon Peach PowerBait. Richard Randleman of Rosemond did some fancy maneuvering out on the Lake to snag a "Happy Face" (although I have never see Richard with anything but a Happy Face at least when he's on the Lake!)

A few other 'Happy Faces' graced the dam Saturday evening - an impromptu wedding. Robbie & Dannielle Punta tied the knot on the dam at Lake Sabrina. Dannielle's sister Leslie Hlatky of Pennsylvania was the Best Man while Cousin Janey Canniff of Georgia was Maid of Honor. Wedding guests (any angler that walked in the Lake Sabrina door) were offered Champagne and LogenBerry Pie as part of the impromptu Punta wedding reception. (Who would have thought we'd be reporting a wedding in the fishing report?) The wedding party returned to Lake Sabrina Sunday for a bit of fishing where Bride Dannielle caught the biggest fish. Best of Luck to you, Mr. & Mrs. Punta!

Temperatures are forecasted to remain warm - low 70s for highs and low 40s for lows - at least the beginning of the week. That nasty four letter word w-i-n-d is schedule to be here Sunday and Monday (gusts possibly up to 40mph), but temps are to remain warm (remember it's all relative). We've heard rumblings temperatures may drop some for the weekend. So if you're coming for the fair - best pack it all. Take a look at www.weather.gov for the Aspendell area forecast toward the latter part of the week.

Still having problems with my email file - not sure what happened or is still happening, but we lost a few more email addresses. We're working on restoring the file, but if one of your friends in the meantime said they haven't gotten the report, ask them to email me and we'll get them back on the list! [email protected]

* * * NEWS FLASH * * * Verizon has removed the payphone out in front of Lake Sabrina Boat Landing. Cardinal Village will be your closest option as not very many cell phone providers work in the area; Bishop Creek Lodge, Parchers Resort and Creekside RV Park are your other choices

With the return of warmer weather the skeeters have returned, so remember the bug juice and COMMIT TO MEMORY, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!

Also, don't forget your sunscreen and dark glasses, the glare on the water is soooo bright, they just might blind your eyeballs. PONCHOS or COATS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED - YOU NEVER KNOW!

ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !

You all have a great week and if the stress gets too great, you all know where to come to get some relief! But, remember you don't need to be stressed to come. WE JUST WANT TO SEE YOU SOON!
