Hello to all you fisher folks!! Happy New Year and welcome to the 2013 fishing season in Mono County . About time...... we have been waiting all winter!! The Reservoir is just a bit low as no run-off from the snowpack has started yet. Expect that to happen sometime in May/June. The marina here has almost 5 feet of water and that is enough to launch most boats. We do expect the water levels to rise through June. The snowpack in this drainage is about 55 to 65 percent of normal. Not great but we'll take what we can get. The Reservoir has been ice free for about 6 weeks and the water temps , although still cold, are on the rise. Ideally somewhere in the 50's would really spark the bite. Almost there.....

Trolling with lead-core line, if possible, should get results.Try Rapala's, 7 or 5's, Excel's, Needlefish, Bouyants and Trolling Flies behind a 5 to 6 foot leader. Work the 10 to 20 foot zone along Rainbow point, Off the Blue House and in the Narrows by the Dam. Still fishing with Crawlers, Power-Bait and Mice Tails suspended off the bottom anywhere from 10 to 36 inches. Fly Fishing with a med. sink line and Streamers should produce as well. A bit cool for still-water nymphing(ask Lynette or Sierra Drifters...LOL) but if the temps are warm, why not try it???

The word is out we are supposed to get a bunch of fish this year. All in all everything is lining up for a good season, maybe a short one due to the water, but good never the less..We have info on the latest conditions and access to some very professional guides in the area. Give us a call anytime....Boat safely and have fun!!!!!! 760 932-7001.
