Fishing at Silver Lake has continued to stay relatively steady over the past week. With another load of 900 pounds from DFG and another 200 pounds of smaller Alper's Trout has made things steady. With the heat of the past week, it was best to fish early in the morning and late in the afternoon, after the sun gets off the water and the shadows start to pop out. However, if you are fishing during the heat of the day, Your best bet has been to use Power baits like Salmon Egg Red, Garlic or Salmon Peach. Take your bait to the bottom where the water is cooler and use a 24" to 30" leader to bring the bait back to about the top of the weed line. If you are a troller, take it deep, surface water temperature is 62 degrees, as the fish seem to be hanging out at about 35 to 40 feet below the surface in the cooler water. Using a Tazmanian Devil or a Dave Davies will help to get you deeper where the big fish are. Also try using some dry flies on the surface first thing in the morning. Try a Mosquito, Grey Hackle Peacock or a Black Gnat with a Red tail and you should find some luck. We are also expecting another load of big Alper's Trout next week, so the fishing should continue to stay good.

Fish Of The Week:
Julia Whalen of Encino (age 7), pictured above caught a nice 2 pound 1 ounce rainbow and a 1 pound rainbow from the shore of Silver Lake using Salmon Peach Power bait.

Damon Diruscio, Photo #1 of Whittier landed a great stringer of fish weighing in at 6 pounds 10 ounces from Silver Lake using a Triple Teaser.

Kendall Diederick (age 5), Photo #2 of Simi Valley caught the stringer of her life with the two biggest fish weighing in at 1 pound 5 ounces and 1 pound 8 ounces trolling on Silver Lake with a Thomas Buoyant.

Happy Fishing and Good Luck!!!
