Fishing at Silver Lake and Rush Creek has continued to be stellar this past week. The stringers have continued to roll in at a very steady pace, with a nice size trout coming in regularly. The best fishing has been early in the morning and later in the evening, while it is a little slower during the mid day when it is hottest. Early in the morning try tossing some dry flies before the breeze of the day starts to pick up. Try using a Mosquito, some nymphs, or a caddis with a fly rod or a fly and a bubble. Also try trolling a fly streamer in the morning and later afternoon. Troll at the surface with a Olive Matuka, Green Wooly Bugger or a Rainbow Hornberg. During the heat of the day, think Power Baits. Take them deeper where the cooler water is and bring it back up to the weed line. Salmon Peach, Salmon Egg Red, or Garlic have been the most consistent. In the evening try tossing a Thomas Buoyant, or a smaller Tazmanian Devil. Rush Creek has been most consistent with Salmon Eggs, worms or some dry flies. The water is still running high and fast, so look for some good back eddies to let your line float through.

The photos shows the fish of the week and Vanessa Moreno of Rancho Cucamonga who caught a nice 2 pound 15 ounce Brown on Rush Creek using a worm. Billy Hawkins age 8 of Encinitas caught a nice 3 pound 3 ounce Rainbow from the shore of Silver Lake using Sierra Gold dough bait. Lynn Bernstein of June Lake landed two nice fish from a boat on Silver Lake, one weighed in at 1 pound 8 ounce and the other an even 2 pounds using Worms.
