No one call and ask what the weather's going to be like - cause we don't know - have no clue - not a one - especially this year. August has cooled quite a bit and now Saturday and Sunday - stormy, yet mild days! Started raining Saturday evening - rained through the night - and off and on Sunday with just a slight breeze. And there is a NIP in the air - feels cool, but a different kind of summer cool - ah think fall is on the way! But then again, Mom might be playing once more, temps should be getting warmer toward the weekend - we'll see!

Once again, fishing was on the slow side, but continues to improve over last week. Lake Sabrina Boat Landing stocked the lake with a load of Alpers on Monday and the Department of Fish and Game stopped by with a load of pan-sized fish on Thursday. Brooke (5) and Jake (3) Hill of Upland, along with their parents, also stopped by this past week to try their luck and caught their first fish of many to be caught at Lake Sabrina. Tom Komora of Arcadia hooked into a 2-1/2 pounder on Rainbow PowerBait.

Back to what's catching a few - free-lining into the Inlets (either one) with NightCrawlers, Salmon Eggs or WoolyBuggers has gotten a few. Trolling deep with flashers and NightCrawlers or Rapalas has also gotten some. Still the best is drifting NightCrawlers or PowerBait by the rock piles. Shore fishing with NightCrawlers or PowerBait.

Well if you remember last weeks report - looks like some gorgeous weather in store for the canyon area - upper 60s to low 70s & mid 40s for the evenings - light breezes - Rick and I spent the most beautiful day on Thursday out on the lake - low 70s, light breezes, cool-looking clouds - (ok - I've sat here for 5 minutes trying to come up with the words to describe that day - can't seem to find the words - you just had to have been there!). Now that report only went through Thursday, so I didn't have a clue about this storm. This week, www.weather.gov for the Aspendell area is forecasting - Thunderstorms Monday - then, sunny Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the high 60's and lows in the low 40s - check their website a bit later in the week for the weekend weather.

Did you see the picture Rick took of the "Tree that dared to be different?" How cool was that - and the pictures of the clouds in the canyon Sunday morning - sure doesn't feel like the dogged-days of August. Like I said before, there's a nip in the air and yellow on a few trees - could we have an early Fall?? Stay tuned!

Had a bit of a problem with my email file - not sure what happened, but we lost a few emails. We're working on restoring the file, but if one of your friends in the meantime said they haven't gotten the report, ask them to email me and we'll get them back on the list! [email protected].

* * * NEWS FLASH * * * Verizon has removed the payphone out in front of Lake Sabrina Boat Landing. Cardinal Village will be your closest option as not very many cell phone providers work in the area; Bishop Creek Lodge, Parchers Resort and Creekside RV Park are your other choices

With the return of warmer weather the skeeters have returned, so remember the bug juice and COMMIT TO MEMORY, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!

Also, don't forget your sunscreen and dark glasses, the glare on the water is soooo bright, they just might blind your eyeballs. PONCHOS or COATS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED - YOU NEVER KNOW!

ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !

You all have a great week and if the stress gets too great, you all know where to come to get some relief! But, remember you don't need to be stressed to come. WE JUST WANT TO SEE YOU SOON!

Well, Mom Nature is up to her tricks again - the same ones she was playing in the spring. Couple of warm days, then w-i-n-d-y days, then back to warm then cold with a chance of snow (which it did in Mammoth a week ago Thursday), then a few awesome days - you get the drift. We were back to cool temps this weekend. Some pretty stiff breezes bringing in the cooler air. The fishing was a bit better this...... Read More
