Inlets & Rock Slide Tops at South

Perfect fall weather allowed for great fishing at South Lake this week. The cooler nights have slowed the deep trolling bite down considerably but action at the inlets and at the rock slide more than made up for it. Top trolling wooly buggers or Thomas bouyants is producing some limits but plastic baits like Power Worms, Lip Ripperz and Mini-Jigs are responsible for most of the trophy fish. Chunky Cheese PB and Nightcrawlers are best for bait angling. Fly anglers still doing well on chunky rainbows stripping streamers.

The Bishop Creek Canyon Fall Classic is well on it's way with at least two winning tagged fish coming out of South Lake thus far in the derby.

The boat launch at the lake is now closed to trailered boats but it is still open to float tubes and kayaks. Even though the lake is now closed to private boaters, the rental fleet will remain on the water well into October.
