There were a lot of big fishing coming out of South Lake this week but quantity was down from the previous week. It looks like the warm weather has driven a lot of the fish deeper and a few anglers trolling 4-5 colors of lead core found great action on the smaller fish. Inflated nightcrawlers fished off the bottom was a good producer at the Inlet while plastic baits like Berkley Powerworms, Lip Ripperz and Trout Traps were the best bet for the the lunkers coming off the rock slide.

The Bishop Creek Canyon Summer Classic is still rolling and there are at least five tagged fish still swimming around in South Lake. Tagged fish (yellow tags) caught from South, Sabrina, North, Intake II and Weir are worth $50 to $500 each. It's only $5 to register and everyone who participates is entered in a drawing for a $500 cash prize, tackle prizes and a fall fishing package valued at over $500!

South Lake water level remains low but with the excellent weather it's coming up a foot or two a day. The South Lake staff launched the boat docks and one pontoon over the past week and hope to get our first DFG plant of the season this week.Private boaters are not able to launch yet due to the low water level.
