Water Conditions:

Clear and cool. Surface water temps are in the low 50's.
The areas outside and across the lake from Bridgeport Marina usually fish the best this time of year. This is the areas where fresh water are coming into the lake.
The flow out of the lake has decreased to 2o5 cfs into the East Walker, so levels will probably build with additional runoff from the recent snows this week

Fishing Conditions and Hatches:

We have settled into a cold weather pattern for this time of year. The fishing is good when the sun is out warming the surface and air temps and if the winds are calm, bringing strong midge hatches.

Hatches right now are purely of the midge variety. No Damsel's or Callibaetis are out yet, but could start with warmer weather.
For floating line, stillwater nymphing, use mayfly and midge patterns. Attracter patterns can work well at this location as well as realistic imitations.
For stripping use medium sinking lines and fish from 10 ??? 18 feet. Spin anglers have been hooking nice fish trolling but not many fly anglers have been stripping. It is worth a try.

Recommended Flies:

Midges: Red blood midges, #14-#16; Frostbite Midges, #14-#18; Black Zebras, Tiger Midges and grey or black/red Optimidges in sizes #14-#18.
Attractors: Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, Black AP's and Scuds, #14 ??? #18.
Streamers: Focus on leech and bugger patterns in darker colors. Denny Rickards Seal Bugger's are consistent producers in rust and green

Guides Hint: Keep moving until you find fish. Look for fish rising, bottom structure, insect activity or other anglers hooking up. Strip slowly and close to the bottom, sometimes bouncing your fly into the mud.
