Lake Camanche - CA

“Fished Camanche yesterday. We ran towards the dam, rods loaded with speedy shiners. Made a couple runs along the buoy line then shot towards little hat, then hat, then the main body and back again. 5 long hours, for nada. We finally pulled up and went to the narrows, changed my approach entirely. This time white grubs, and GVF spinbugs on the slow troll. I wasn’t even finished putting all the lines out and we had fish on behind the planner board on the grub. The next 3 hours was on fire compared to our morning. We ended with 5 fish in the boat, but I must of lost 6 or 7. After losing 3 in a row, I finally called it a day. I had enough. Jen caught the big fish at 3.7 pounds. All fish came on topwater. One grub line had a 1/8 oz weight, the other grub and spinbugs with flashers had no weights. The setback was 110ft on the grubs, 125ft on the spinners. 1.4mph.”

Rick of Rick’s Custom Baits wrote, “Had a chance to get out on the lake this week. Bass fishing is a bit slow but it’s starting to pick up. There were some boats around picking up trout trolling. The water temp was still at around 60 so it’s heading in the right direction. The bites came on a keitech with a 3/8 under spin and on a custom painted Ima Little Stik. Had fun out there!”

“Tough bite for us on Lake Camanche today. Managed 1 ditch pickle to keep the skunk off. But no trout. Currently, the fish are not on the top 10ft to 15ft. Water temp is 58deg down to 30′. I did drop my probe to 80 and it was 59deg. We also didn’t mark very many fish. Only really deep ones. To 80ft.”
