Another awesome weekend at the Lake - lots of people getting out of the heat and into some cool temps and spectacular scenery - just what the doctor ordered.

Once again, fishing was great - slowed a bit during the week, but picked back up for the weekend. At the DingleBerry Inlet, anglers were using the norm - NightCrawlers, Salmon Eggs, PowerBait and Lures - really didn't matter what you were throwing at those fish - they were catching everything. If you were trolling, it was Thomas Buoyants or NightCrawlers. NightCrawlers were working just drifting thru the channels. It was tossing Lures and PowerBait from shore. DFG stocked on Tuesday.

Cousins Caden Carmelo and Philip Steinert were making memories and catching fish while Paige Martinez of Bishop caught her first fish on what she calls 'Unicorn Bait' (really bright and sparkily PowerBait).

There's more and more colors popping up all around - we've got Purple Penstemons and Yellow Columbines along with sweet smelling Purple Lilacs, pretty Pink flowers and Yellow flowers (no idea what their names are). We've got Lupine just in the water at the back of the Lake - looked like they were floating and moss-covered tree trunks in the DingleBerry Creek.

Had our first mule pack train go into the back country from Bishop Pack Outfitters - please remember if your hiking the trail and are coming upon stock - step off to the downward side of the trail - that way if the mules/horses/llamas get spooked they'll go upward - sure appreciate it as will the packers.

If your 4th of July plans included Bishop - the Bishop Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Firework Show will begin at 9pm just after dark at the Bishop Airport. Gates open at 4pm. $20 per car load. Food and Beverage Venders will be on site. For more information on this event Please call (760) 873-5485. Donations can be made to the Bishop Volunteer Fire Dept and would be greatly appreciated!

And Saturday, July 5th is FREE FISHING DAY! Don't need a license on that day to fish, but you do need to abide by all the fishing regulations. If you're not sure what they are, come on in and ask!

Still no sign of bears up at Lake Sabrina yet - but are around - on both sides of the canyon, so where ever you are please keep your food and trash picked-up or they may visit you next.

Temps are expected to be in the mid-70??s for highs and in the mid-40??s for lows with some wind due in on Wednesday. You can also check out www.weather.gov - enter Aspendell, CA (which is the little community right below Lake Sabrina) in the search field and you'll get the forecast for the higher elevation or take a look at Howard Sheckter, our local weather 'guesser' report at www.MammothWeather.com.

And the skeeters are back, so DON'T FORGET THE BUG JUICE and the sunscreen, ponchos and dark polarized glasses - the glare off the water is tough on the eyes. And if you have allergies - PACK YOU MEDS - it's tough breathing out there for some - what with runny noses, stuffed noses & watery eyes - believe us - we know!

One other important item - bug juice, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, cologne, perfume, or any other foo-foo juice is like a fish repellent - if you use any of these items you're basically using fish repellant - you'll need to wash your hands, then apply Bite-On fish attractant or rub your hands in worm dirt or pour some Salmon Egg juice on your hands - anything to get the foo-foo stink off your hands.

We've gone to our summer hours, but alas, the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Café will only serve Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch until 4:00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Lake is still on the rise - coming up about a foot a day, but alas, the snow is disappearing quite rapidly - may only have a couple of weeks of run-off left - it is what it is and we're happy for what we have! Catching was back on track, although, at times the DingleBerry Inlet was off and on. Some used NightCrawlers and PowerBait, while others threw lures and jigs - some caught fish other didn't -......
