Today is the longest day of the year and I hope some of you can take advantage of the daylight with some time out on the lake. Fishing has continued to be excellent at Convict as we move into summer. Anglers are continuing to caught the trophy trout that were stocked in the spring. More 3-5 pounders to come in early July. The water level is still good at the lake. The creek is low but fishing well. DFG has continues to plant the creek. The low water levels in the creek are still high enough to support stocking which is a positive.

Catch of the Week: Josiah Ochoa from Bellflower, CA with two great fish. The "catch of the week" was a toad, a 5 pound 6 ounce rainbow. Josiah added a second quality fish for good measure. It was a 4 pound 9 ounce rainbow. He was using a nightcrawler and he was fishing the Inlet.

Tactics/Bait: Sometime it's good to go with the a old reliable bait. This week inflated nightcrawlers scored some nice fish ( 5.6, 5.0 and 4.9 pounders). Roostertails and spoon type lures were doing well in the lake. In the creek salmon eggs were the hot ticket. The most successful Powerbait colors were peach, salmon and rainbow. The South Shore and Inlet were the hottest spots this week. Other locations fishing well were Hangman's Tree, Jetty and North Shore.

Here is a list of other baits/lures that can be productive: Sierra Slammers, Tasmanian Devil, Green or brown Marvel Fly Lures, Trout Teasers, Panther Martin, NeedleFish, Rooster Tails, and Bite-on Fury Shad or Lip Ripperz Hatchery Dust on Powerbait.
