Fishing remains consistent at the lake with shore anglers finding a steady pick on pan sized Rainbows to 12". Only 3 fish in the four to six pound range have been weighed in this season but that isn't too shabby considering the light fishing pressure of the early season.

Lure tossers are scoring on the usual suspects, Thomas Buoyant, Kastmasters and the like. Bait dunkers are doing well using various Powerbaits fished off the bottom and with Nightcrawlers fished 5 feet under a bobber. Those who prefer soft plastics are scoring on jigs, trout worm and swimbaits with pink, orange and grasshopper producing the best.

The rainbows are in full spawn mode right now so anglers are encouraged to practice catch and release whenever possible.

Access is still a little difficult along the west shore and the rock slide with boulder hopping required to access this area. Boiler Cove offers the best shore access. The lake level is very low but steadily coming up.

South Lake Landing is hoping to begin weekend operations in early June with a limited boat and kayak fleet, with expanded operation as soon as the water level allows. As expected, the lake is coming up fast with the great warm weather and we hope this continues.
