600 pounds of Rainbow Trout averaging 4.5 lbs have been stocked for the weekend. The State stocked Convict Lake as well — a double plant for Labor Day weekend. Saturday, September 5, 2026 is FREE FISHING DAY, allowing anyone 16 and older to fish without a sport fishing license. Kids under 16 never need a license in California. Come and get ’em. Recent catches include:

South shore: 5 lbs, 4 lbs, 2½ lbs

Hangman’s Tree: 4½ lbs

Inlet: 4¼ lbs

Also reported: 3¼ lbs, 3¼ lbs, and 2¼ lbs

Tequila Lime PowerBait with a worm, Garlic PowerBait, mice tails, nightcrawlers, and green jigs have been working well. Early morning has been the better bite.

The Fall Derby runs through November 15th.
