Current Water Conditions
Flows measuring 248 CFS out of Tahoe City, 306 CFS through town of Truckee, 381 CFS through the Glenshire area, and 537 CFS near Farad. Water temperatures will start to increase with the warmer weather pattern the area is finally seeing. Water clarity is clearing up after the recent rain storms. Wading conditions are good from Tahoe City to the Stateline, but be cautious of footing in the faster water near Farad.
Water Temperatures
Water temperatures are currently steady in the high 40s°F and reaching the mid 50s°F by mid-afternoon.
Hatches
Anglers can expect a few hatches of caddis, blue winged olives, PMDs, and baetis throughout the day.
Effective Tactics
Euro nymphing and streamer fishing have been solid methods to try at this time, with some dry fly fishing in specific areas. On cloudy days, streamers are producing the best results. For anglers euro nymphing, use longer leaders and a 10 foot 4 weight rod to get down in the faster runs. Focus on upstream drifts for a more natural presentation. Fishing deep pockets behind boulders and structures can produce more bites. Anglers using crayfish and ants are still getting some bites. With the appearance of warmer temperatures and an increase in pine pollen, carpenter ants are on the menu for the trout.
Catch Report
With the flows dropping a bit from last week, fish are spread throughout the entire system. Anglers can have success from Tahoe City to the Nevada stateline. .
