Well, we are off and running here at Silver Lake Resort, with a busy Memorial Weekend and summer knocking on the door. Thanks to two great loads over the past week and a half of Desert Springs Monster Rainbows being dumped into Silver Lake, the catching side of fishing has been really good despite the up and down, warm and cold, weather we have been having. Anglers that have shown a little patience have seen great luck from both the shore and out in boats using various Berkley products like Corn, Garlic, Rainbow Glitter Garlic, Mice Tails, Garlic Infused Pinch Crawlers and the new June Lake Loop Sierra Sunrise Kit with their new Mono Magic, The Loop and The 395 Garlic dough baits. If you are a lure angler, make sure you give The Mook and The Thomas Buoyants a go and if you like Jigs the Golden State Jigs and Sierra Slammers in bright colors have been doing well. More important than what you are using, is the depth at which you are using it. The bottom of the lake is still cold from the long winter, the top is cold with all the snowmelt dumping into Silver, which means that the middle layer is where the trout are hanging out. With that said, mixing up the depth of your leader is the most important thing you can do, until you find that hot depth that they are hanging out at. We are just starting to see some bugs on the water, but it is supposed to get cold on us again this week. Work the top water with some mosquitos, flying ants or Sierra Bright Dots or work below the surface with Olive Matuka, Rainbow Hornberg or Black Wooly Buggers.

Keep an eye out for more stockings from Desert Springs roughly every 3 to 4 weeks spread out throughout the summer into Silver Lake and get down on Rush Creek now that it is officially open for the season with lots of water currently flowing down towards Grant Lake. Remember, patience is a vertu and there is no magic ticket when it comes to catching, keep trying new things, new places and new depths and put in the time and you should be rewarded like all the great pictures from this weeks catches.
