Is the Fishing at Silver Lake Slower because there are less people fishing or slower because the fish aren’t biting???  Great Question that only the “Catching Gods” can answer!!!  We have seen less fish being brought in over the past week but it is also slower here in the June Lake Loop with the numbers of fishermen we are seeing.  We still had a pretty decent week here at Silver Lake Resort with a few Great Size Rainbows being brought into the scales to be weighed.  Are the fish jumping into your lap?  No, you have to work pretty hard right now to be successful.  The water temps are still extremely cold due to the long cold winter and the amount of cold water being dumped into Silver Lake from Rush and Alger Creek.  The fish aren’t out actively feeding and chasing things to eat.  if it happens to be in front of their mouth they may give it a try.  With that said, anglers this past week saw some good luck when they tried everything they had in their tackle boxes and kept switching up their gear and locations until they found a hot spot.  The fish are moving around and sitting in one spot all day won’t produce anything but good memories of the beautiful views here at Silver Lake.  Move around, try new things, make your leader longer or shorter!!  As the water temps continue to slowly get warmer, fishing should slowly get better but we aren’t even close to mid summer results – mainly because its not mid summer yet.  Don’t give up and be patient.  My motto this entire Spring of moving snow and getting ready for another busy summer has been – Slow and Steady will win the race – and it will with persistence and some patients.  The fish are out there as DFW planted this past Tuesday and we are on the schedule to get a load from DFW this coming week and a load coming from Desert Springs the week before Memorial Weekend.  The weather is suppose to be a little cold and windy this coming week which won’t help the water warm up but it will get there.  Soon we will be saying the fishing is slow due to the water being to warm.  We wouldn’t be fishermen if we didn’t have an excuse why we aren’t catching.  One thing is for-sure – the views of Silver Lake and Carson Peak are gorgeous and the breakfast and lunch in the cafe is spectacular here at Silver Lake Resort.  The catching side of things is just icing on the cake!!

We Hope to See You at The Lake!!!
