 The Lake Forecast:
We’ve got open water showing on the Lake – and the Lake is up to the launch ramp – although, it’s that time of year and we’re dropping daily – it’s Spring and water usage goes up in the Spring remember, we’re a reservoir. Not sure if we will be ice-free for Fishmas, but we do know, we will NOT have our boats on the Lake.

And, if you do think you might still want to try ice fishing at Lake Sabrina this year? Talked with a DFW Warden and on Friday, April 13, had a few skiers come out across the back part of the Lake and one went thru - all is good and well, but NO ICE FISHING AT LAKE SABRINA THIS YEAR!

And now for other news:
And, just like that, we’re back! Finally, got moved up to the Lake last Wednesday the 18th – roads are wide open to the parking lot – set up the trailer and acclimated. Then over the next two days, we acclimated even more as Mother Nature decided it was Winter again! Snow flurries, some frigid breezes dropping the wind chill down to the low teens – not water turning on weather.

But, Mother Nature being Mother Nature decided to clear things out and turn up the heat – beautiful clear blue sky kinda day on Friday, but with a good stiff cool northerly wind, but not too cool – got water started yesterday! The forecast for the week is temps in the mid-50s although www.weather.gov (enter Aspendell, CA in the search) shows:

  • Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
  • Thursday Night - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.
  • Friday - A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly sunny, with a high near 47.

No forecast for Saturday yet and the forecast can change hourly!

Have yet to even get a fire going in there the building yet - had to get the smoke stack in a more vertical position – at least with the cleats Rick installed last Fall we didn’t lose it again – just lose guide wires. Getting the fire going today!

We’re hoping to get the Café opened for Fishmas, but with the State mandated water start-up procedure (which is a good thing) and quite a bit of Spring cleaning to do only time (and energy) will tell.

And the hiking conditions:
Not sure of anything yet. There’s snow at the trailhead, but lots of foot traffic. Haven’t talked to anyone lately that’s hiked the trail, but we’ll try and keep you updated!

Juanita, Rick, Patti, Dwayne, Jamin and even Bryan is back!
