I once said that the Punk Perch was the best overall fry imitation for stripping and hanging under an indicator on Crowley but this little guy out fished it in side-by-sides all summer. It is a modification of a fly that Team Trout Fly member, Lee Watanabe, found at a shop in Arizona they use for bass. (check out their website for some more cool patterns with tying instructions, azflyfishing.com) Check out their Sparkle Bugger . . . look familiar?

We're calling this guy the Perfection Perch and it is available in the shop.

Also now in the shop are a couple of new Optimidges that also spanked 'em this summer in side-by-side tests - Red/Purple and new versions of the Olive and Gray/Black Optimidges with green flashback. And lastly, get your dark glasses out for this one - a Gray/Black Optimidge with Green flashback and a red bead. This fly was very hot this summer when the surface was like an algae putting green but the water was clear on the bottom.

FYI, the spectrum of colors that I use for shallow-and-clear water to deep-and-dark (algae) water is as follows:

Natural Olive, black and gray/black >> same with some green flash >> purple >> red/purple >> red/black >> red. Tan, root beer, and claret colors fit in there someplace but I think you get the idea.
