Even with the dam construction at Boca, fishing still remains okay. Boca reservoir is a consistent spot for anglers to catch good size trout. Trout are swimming up the Little Truckee river and primarily schooling towards the middle of the reservoir. Because It’s still difficult to launch a boat, there aren’t many reports of Kokanee just yet. Launching a boat will be limited to offshore only at Boca Reservoir. Boca reservoir is currently at 22% capacity.

Donner lake is still fishing best in the early mornings or late evenings. Anglers can find Rainbow trout can around 20 feet in depth and macks are biting around 80-100 feet. Because of the more frequent boaters and swimmers, anglers won’t have much luck in the afternoons unless they are fishing deep water in the middle of the lake.
