The Trout Fitter Staff

Report Date:

http://www.thetroutfitter.com/fshreport.html

Water Conditions:

Flows increasing daily and clear. At 160 CFS as of 5/15 but check it before you go. Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good

FISHING GOOD, CROWDS HORRENDOUS.That pretty much sums it up! I f you're going to fish, please show some courtesy for the people already there. The E. Walker is to small to fish opposite side from another angler.I understand it's frustrating when you have limited time on your trip to explore, but any of the shops in the area should be able to give you advice on how to avoid the crowds as much as possible.
Pretty much wide open is the report after the flow stabilizes each time they change it, but tough right after the changes. It seems like a broken record, but the fish report just doesn't change much. Early in the day midges, mid to late morning the baetis start appearing and about 11-12 the baetis hatch gets going full swing. This hatch will keep going til late afternoon but the feeding frenzy will start slowing down around two pm.
The stonefly hatgh on the CA side seems to be tapering of while the NV side still going strong.

Recommended Flies:

Zebra and Frostbite Midges #20-#26, WD-40's #20-#24,micro may and flashback Barr's emergers #20,22. Golden Stone #6-#10 and Stimulators #6-10 (Towards NV), CDC BWO #20, Para-Adams #20-#22. Add big, #14 PT's to the list.
