Scuds & Caddis are working best at Hot Creek, in the late afternoon try mayflies

Water Conditions: Good flows are holding steady at 26cfs* as of 10/17. *Flows above should have been about 10cfs higher all summer. Still extensive weedbeds around. We need a long period of cold weather to kill them all off.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good the water is slightly off color from a minute uptick in flows from recent snow melt. Tons of scuds in the water right now, mostly gray, with a sizable caddis hatch about mid afternoon. Some sporadic mayflies and midges as well.

STREAMERS: Water isn't deep enough to really bother.

Guides Hint: Drag free drifts are essential to catching fish now. Nymph the shallow riffles without any weight for best results.

Mammoth Lakes : Fishing is great in the Mammoth Lakes area
San Joaquin River: Fishing on the San Joaquin is getting quite technical

Mammoth Lakes : Fishing is very good in the Mammoth Lakes area
Hot Creek: Hot Creek is fishing better in the late mornings & mid-afternoons
San Joaquin River: The San Joaquin water levels are,low making the fishing more technical
Crowley Lake: Fishing is still good at Crowley, but the fish are more spread out
Owens River: The action at the Upper Owens is definitely picking up
Owens River: Not much change at the Owens River Gorge
Rock Creek - Section 1: Fish the lakes along the way to Rock Creek
Rush Creek: Rush Creek is fishing best above the 395 in the afternoons
Owens River: The flows are back up on the Lower Owens, but the fishing is good if you can find some slow water
Bridgeport Reservoir: The weeds at Bridgeport is making the fishing more difficult
East Walker River (CA): Fishing on the East Walker is OK, the flows are down and the water has some algae
