Well between the wind, weak hatches and now Daphnia the fishing here is very hit or miss right now. The fish are moving all over daily. The water temperature is pretty comfortable for these fish at every depth all day long so it's not uncommon to see the fish cruising at or near the surface (if the pelicans aren't around ). Bottom temps are good all over and this windy cold spring weather has delayed the inevitable summer warm up significantly. The fishing might now be spectacular right now, but this essentially brought us some time through July and August. With almost no runoff expected into McGee or the Owens this is great news for the next month or two. The fish are out deep unfortunately, and some are on the daphnia but I haven't pumped a fish in over a week, but I'll be out there tomorrow so hopefully I'll have a fish that will cooperate with my science project. The fleet has moved from Stormy over to the West side of McGee over north of Pelican in about 30-35ft of water. I still was marking fish over in Stormy and Sometimes out to the middle of McGee bay in 34ft of water.  Hilton is hit or miss, along with Christmas and Sandy Point. When the fish are on the move you should probably be too so I'd move around if you're not getting grabs after 10-15 min. Seeing some big red/chrome midges hatching late mornings and the fish have been eating size 14's fairly high off the bottom, so don't be afraid to play around with depth before you start changing your flies.
