Hot Creek Fish Report- Update by Eric Hein Update 06/05/09

Hot Creek - Mammoth Lakes, CA (Mono County)

by The Trout Fitter Staff
(800) 637-6912

Water Conditions: Excellent

Flow is 59 cfs on 6/5
Creek is high but not dirty… if it rains in top of the snow again it will turn brown. Not a bad thing… We need another good flush of the "Creek" to bring back a healthy Stonefly and P.M.D.. population.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Extra Excellent

30 to 50 to the net is the word although Otis used the word "stupid".
There are solid hatches of midges in the am, followed by BWO's mid-day, along with Yellow Sallies a few P.M.D's and caddis by the afternoon (on Warm days). Some great dry fly opportunities!!

Recommended Flies:

#20-22 WD-40 in Olive or Black, #18-22 Zebra Midges, #18-20 Pheasant Tail, and #16-18 Scuds in Olive or Grey. Epoxy back Hares Ears #16, COPPER Johns#16-20, fox pupa olive#16,
