The weather wasn't looking good for our trip at the beginning of the weekend, but the reports were slightly in our favor. I spoke with the APOLLO Capt J.J. Gerritsen and he said the weather was going to lay down this evening and the trip was a go. I arrived at SEA LANDING at around 7pm and the winds had calmed down some. Everyone was on board by 9:30pm and Capt Drew gave us our safety briefing and said the winds were still up and we would hang tight at the dock until midnight. Most folks were already down for the night when we pulled out and woke up around 5:30 with Santa Rosa in our sights. The winds were calm and we soon started our drifts, it wasn't long and we were bringing in some quality chuckleheads and reds. We managed a few keeper lings and released many that were just short. After we got limits of rockfish, Capt Drew to us in close to try our luck at some halibut. We had a few scrapes but no hookups, so we headed back in. Over all the weather was great and the company was even better, give the APOLLO at 805-963-3564 and get on board before they head south for the summer. You won't regret it. If you would like any of these pictures, you can email me at [email protected] and I will forward them to you.
