DONNER LAKE

Donner lake is still fishing best in the early mornings or late evenings. Anglers can find Rainbow trout can around 20 feet in depth and macks are biting around 80-100 feet. Because of the more frequent boaters and swimmers, anglers won’t have much luck in the afternoons unless they are fishing deep water in the middle of the lake. Kastmasters, spinners, worms off the bottom, and salmon eggs are all great bait choices for anglers. The lake level at Donner lake is currently at 97% capacity.

RECOMMENDED GEAR

Off Shore: Worms off the bottom. 1/4oz Kastmasters in blue/silver, panther martin’s, rapalas
Trolling: Hoochies and dodgers in pink, rapalas, plugs, lymans or flashers and a worm

BOCA RESERVOIR

Even with the dam construction at Boca, fishing still remains okay. Boca reservoir is a consistent spot for anglers to catch good size trout. Trout are swimming up the Little Truckee river and primarily schooling towards the middle of the reservoir. Because It’s still difficult to launch a boat, there aren’t many reports of Kokanee just yet. Launching a boat will be limited to offshore only at Boca Reservoir. Boca reservoir is currently at 22% capacity.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR

Kokanee fishing has really picked up at Stampede reservoir. The recent warm weather has caused the bigger Kokanee to start schooling together more. Anglers have been having the most success with Kokanee around 20 feet in depth. Pink, orange, or purple colored lures have produced some of the best Kokanee. Anglers are also now finding decent size Cutthroat Trout due to the consistent stocking done over the years. Fishing with humdingers and criplers around 20-40 feet in depth can produce nice size cutthroat. The reservoir level is currently at 80% capacity.

RECOMMENDED GEAR

Off Shore: 1/4oz Kastmasters, pink/orange/purple colors, panther martins, Chartreuse powerbait or worms off the bottom
Trolling: Hoochies and dodgers in pink, wedding rings, koke-a-nuts, humdingers, rapalas, lymans, flashers and a worm

PROSSER CREEK RESERVOIR

Prosser Creek reservoir is a great spot for bass fishing now. With the spawn now over, bass will start to be more active. Anglers should try fishing for Bass near the dam or any drop-off areas. Trout can also be found near the dam and along the reservoir inlets. Trout fishing is best in the early morning or the late evenings. Anglers should use powerbait, kastmasters, panther martins, or worms off the bottom to get good results. Prosser Reservoir is currently at 77% capacity.

RECOMMENDED GEAR

Offshore: 1/4oz kastmasters in gold, gold and black panther martin’s, gitzit jigs, crawdad crank baits, jig and floats, power bait or worms off the bottom.

JACKSON MEADOWS RESERVOIR

Jackson Meadows road is now open for anglers. Fishing has been really consistent by the dam with both powerbait and trolling. A few popular trolling lures anglers have found success with are dick nites and brown trout rapalas. Anglers shore fishing for brown and rainbow trout should use marshmallows and worms. The best part about Jackson Meadows is it’s a great place to beat the crowds. The Jackson Meadows reservoir is at 97% capacity.

PYRAMID LAKE

Closed for the season due to COVID-19.

The gate to Martis Creek Lake is finally open. A friendly reminder that this is a non-motorized lake.
