Truckee River Fish Report

Report Date:

The flows are perfect from Boca Bridge through Reno. The water upstream of Boca Bridge is low due to the lack of water coming out of Lake Tahoe. The water is still cold so the fish are still hanging out in slower runs and deeper pools. Golden stone fly nymphs in sizes 8 to 14 fished under an indicator have been working well. Streamers stripped slowly in deeper water have also been catching a few fish. The water in the Truckee is low and clear so a stealthy approach is a must. (not something you hear much on the Truckee) Late morning to mid afternoon has been the best time to fish.
